What are raisins? A dry-fruit hamper buyer’s guide
Raisins are dried grapes. That simple answer is useful when reading a dry-fruit hamper’s contents, but it does not tell you everything about the raisins inside. The type, ingredients and supplied pack details still matter when choosing a gift.
The key detailCheck the actual raisin description and ingredient information; do not assume every raisin pack has the same variety, processing or ingredients.
Does “raisin” always mean seedless?
No. The Codex international standard for raisins distinguishes grapes that are naturally seedless or almost seedless from seed-bearing types. Seeds may also be removed during processing. If this detail matters to your recipient, ask whether the supplied raisins are a seedless type or have had seeds removed, rather than guessing from their appearance.

Check the ingredients as well as the name
The same standard allows certain optional coatings and ingredients, including edible oils and sugars. This does not mean every raisin product contains them; it means “raisins” alone is not enough to establish a no-added-sugar claim.
FSSAI’s Eat Right India guidance advises checking the ingredient list and food additives. Ask for the actual pack information if a product description does not answer your question. A catalogue picture cannot confirm a complete ingredient list.
