A dry-fruit gift can look generous in a photograph, but jar count and food quantity answer different questions. Before choosing a hamper, check whether the stated weight covers the whole assortment or each container. That small distinction makes a gift enquiry much clearer.

What does net weight include?
Net weight refers to the contents, excluding the packaging. Kerala’s Legal Metrology Department explains that wrappers and other materials outside the commodity are excluded from its declared net quantity. For a dry-fruit gift, the presentation box, jars and lids should not be mistaken for food weight.
Look for grams or kilograms beside the quantity. The same guidance distinguishes the quantity of the contents from the number of items or containers. A three-jar description alone does not tell you how much dry fruit is supplied.

Read “total” before comparing hampers
